Description

Just like with a car, the right tire pressure is also important for your bike. With this bicycle pump from Dunlop you will now ensure that your bicycle tires have the optimum voltage.

Effect of tire pressure

The tension of your tires works on in various areas. With well -pumped tires you have less resistance and you cycle lighter on a smooth road. You also reduce the chance of a flat tire with harder tires and your tires will wear less quickly. On the other side, softer tires catch bumps better when you drive on a vowel road. They also have more grip on the surface if a road is icy smooth. Tire pressure is therefore functional on the one hand and dependent on your personal preference on the other.

For several types of valves

This standing bicycle pump is a floor pump that you operate by hand. He has a double valve. With these 2 different openings, the pump is suitable for 3 types of valves:

  • Dunlop valve, also known as a Dutch valve. This valve is mostly on city bikes. Use the small hole for this.
  • Presta valve, also known as a French valve. This is a somewhat longer and thinner valve that you often see on sporty bicycles. For this you also use the small hole. Please note that this valve is more vulnerable.
  • Schrader valve (Autoventiel): This is somewhat larger and you can find, for example, on mountain bikes, scooters and cars. You connect this valve to the big hole.
  • The advantage of such a double valve is that you do not need separate gradient nipples for these common types of valve. You clamp the pump head over the valve with a lever. That is why this head is called a groove head.

The set also has 2 separate valve tower, neatly stored in a translucent container that you click on the bicycle pump. You can use the loose needle valve to pump up a ball. With the red valve you can, for example, pump inflatable water toys, such as an air bed or pool.

Gauge

This bicycle pump has a built -in, analogue pressure meter, also known as a manometer. You can read the tire pressure on this, both in PSI (Pounds-per-Square-inch, up to 180 PSI) and in bar (up to 12 bar). Handy, because in addition to too soft bicycle tires, you can also pump a tire too hard. A bicycle tire too hard increases the risk of a blowout. For city bikes you often keep a tire pressure of about 3 to 4 bar. You can read the recommended maximum tire pressure on the side of your tire.
